12/04/10 - Christmas Bulb Santa
First off, I want to say that Art Hill took the original photograph that I used to produce this card. It's a window display taken at the Tribune Tower on Michigan Avenue in Chicago. I was browsing his November gallery, saw the shot of the window, and was inspired to ask him if I could try something with it with his permission of course.
To appreciate this, you have to look at the original:
Nothing Art could do about the glass glare and reflection but surely eye catching enough to take a picture of anyway.
I used a combination of cutting out the top left green bulb area and sliding a duplicate layer to the right and blending it in in combination with cloning individual bulbs where needed and then some spot healing and more cloning to get rid of the seams. I dunno, maybe 90 minutes of fooling with it. I did save a copy of the tweaked Santa before proceeding to add frames and text. However, in this very final copy I saw a seam line that needed fixing and just directly edited the framed/text version. This is sized to print 8X10. It would be fairly easy to size it to other sizes and re-add the frame.
Anyway, a super big thanks to Art for giving me this opportunity. I just saw something in his picture. I had fun working with it to produce this card!
Thank you for your comments on the Frosty shot from yesterday. Joey and I are scheming which snowman to take pics of next. He'd like to help. He said he'd like it to be his daily. So, maybe this weekend we'll get to that. Hope!
