01/29/11 - I Love You
Thanks for all the well wishes yesterday... I'm not used to being stuck on the couch and too sick to do much. Too early to tell how today is going to be, but so far I feel better than I did yesterday AM this time. Hoping the boys wake up well.
It was late last night and I was in a bummed mood. I thought I'd give one idea a quick try. I set up this heart in front of some very cool pink metallic wrapping paper and took a few pics. As it turns out, in order to expose the lights properly, I had to under expose the shot, and you can barely tell there was wrapping paper behind the heart. Oh well.
Here's the original:
I removed the power cord line that I had positioned to go up over the paper and then behind. There was a small hanger on the wall that I brought through the paper to hang the heart on, but it turns out I didn't have to do anything special to remove it. I started playing with filters, and this is a combo of two filters one being Glowing Edges. I thought the original looked a bit too much like what it was:-) I fussed cleaning up a few spots and things in the background. Here a white spot there a white spot. You know. Some was probably lens dirt. It's cropped 8X10 which I do because since I'm framing I want at least one size to print correctly with the frame. I could make 4X6 or 5X7 if I go back and rework the .psd file. I might should just do that as a matter of course lest someone want me to do that a month or more later and I struggle to remember my work flow. I should be so lucky, right?!? I started looking around for text overlays. There are a few in OnOne's PhotoFrame, but they are going the wrong way IMO. They also didn't fit the sentiment here. I finally realized I didn't need to find one and could just make my own. I started typing. I experimented with left align and center align and whether not not I should add spaces in the line to try to even them up on the right. It wasn't easy. I finally went with this. Then I thought a border to 'hold' the text in the shot seemed in order. It doesn't stand out in the thumb, but for those that get this far, you can really see it.
I'm sorry my motivation and ideas seem all heart themed. It's not a plan, it just keeps happening. At this rate I will have more Valentine's Day cards than Christmas cards:-)
The text that repeats is, "I love you. Yes I do. Everybody knows that I love you..." It's a short verse that we've used with the kids sense they were little. I don't remember what day it started. I think it started with Joey. Lately Johnny has been singing it again, and we've been singing it with him. Seems like basic text, but how we pause and prolong some of the words gives it a uniqueness.
I'm sure based on feedback that I posted the wrong candle shot yesterday... Thanks for stopping in to check on me anyway...
