01/31/11 - Tear
It was nearly 70 here yesterday with less wind and bright sun. FANTASTIC! That glimpse of spring we all needed to get us through February. That promise of warmer days to come. Aaaaaaaahhhhhh....
The boys and I went to Yates Mill to drop of our Mill as Muse photo contest entries and enjoy the day. We walked the mile Mill Pond (blue) trail. That is one of my favorite things to do in the area! Relaxing. Glimpses of the mill and the pond on the entire trail with ducks and turtles and maybe some other critters if you are lucky.
I took my pictures. The boys hunted for buried treasure drawing X marks the spot in the dirt:-)
We usually walk so that we end up at the mill last. We we did yesterday too. I've told the boys many, many times not to walk on the wet and slimy rocks near the mill. In the summer it's much drier. Not so dry this time of year. Next thing I knew, Johnny was in the 6" water and Joey was instinctively reaching down to pull him back up. Johnny came running up to me tears swelling up in his eyes. "It's OK Little Buddy." "Mommy, do you have spare clothes? Please tell me you have spare clothes..." I had spare clothes. In a few minutes the smile was back, and I don't think he even kept in his mind that he was wet:-) He changed when we got to the car.
Here's the color version cleaned up a bit:
I don't know if I like what I've done here or not. It was a combination of quite a few things including the emboss filter. The original could be better with more light on his teary eye. Somehow it captivated me so I share it today for what it is. A little boy with a momentary tear. That tear we've all seen our kids have but which is fleeting when a parent's love steps back in to make it all better...
Thanks so much for your comments on yesterday's shot....
A collage and much warmer view of our day...
The box turtle is being hand fed and is a rescue that can't make it on his own anymore.
