02/06/11 - Johnny's Valentine
It got to be pretty urgent yesterday that I take Joey and Johnny's Valentine picture and get a photo card made for them to give away at school. The kids will label and decorate the envelopes to personalize them.
No surprise, but I don't have a studio. Usually, the kitchen table turns into one:-) For the first time last night, I used an external flash vs. my pop-up flash. Let me tell you, that was a learning experience! It's an older flash, and you have to do some basic math/calculations to get the camera and flash to be in sync. After complete failure hooking it up to my SX10 IS, I got it to run on my S5 IS. My normal S3 does not have a mount for an external flash, so that's why I didn't use it. At any point, I did some comparison shots between the pop-up flash and the external flash and was pleased with the external flash results. I am hoping at the kids' Valentine's Day party next weekend to use it to take a group shot. I don't think I can handle the extra weight and gravity shift around my neck for the entire party, but I'll have the S5 ready to go for the group shot. I had really wanted to do that at the Christmas party!
Anyway, uploading to WM to pick-up when we grocery shop today. Then on to the envelopes!
A very sincere thanks for your comments yesterday on both my candle shot and Joey's duck shot. We were both thrilled:-)
Super cute shot from the Home Depot workshop yesterday:
Johnny's been sick. Obviously up and about, but low fever and stuffy. If he looks a bit off, that's why. He had a good day yesterday just wasn't 100%.
