02/05/11 - Blue Glow
Joey really, really wanted to shoot candle pictures last night. He was a little upset that I did The Candle Machine shoot without him the other night. I simply explained that when I take pictures after 10PM that it's too late for him to assist. At any point, I replaced my broken mirror at WM on Thursday, and I got out the black foam board and several mirrors, and he, Johnny, and I set to work. We tried various things including non candle stuff. A link to a shot Joey set-up and took is below.
After the kids were in bed, I washed and started taking pics of this. Joey snuck back out to help:-) You should have heard how excited he was by the beauty of this piece and the set-up in the dark. The room glowed so nicely.
I have a new mirror box that I am kindof excited about which this was taken in:
The left and front and top are removable. So, 3 fixed sides and 3 I can remove or angle. It's fun stuff! Would work better I think if were a rectangle. The short sided square makes getting the angle on infinity a bit trickier than I'd like. For now this was inexpensive and fine. Some of you have light boxes. I have a mirror box:-)
I cropped to 8X10 and removed some small spots otherwise sooc and an OnOne PhotoFrame added. In this case, my LED color changing light is under the candle. Joey said it would look best with the LED AND the candle flame, and he was right. There is wrapping paper (on cardboard) with sparkles also under the candle. I used it weeks ago with one of my snowman shots. It bounces the light very nicely. A small hole in the cardboard/paper lets the LED light through but hides the 1" tall small square base of it.
See Joey's POTD here
It's hair raising:-)
Thanks for all the comments on yesterday's bird shot and als the extra ones in the gallery for the SP and the cardinal shots. You guys are the best!
