02/02/11 - The Candle Machine
Somehow I feel like the candles are marching back into the shot going through various reality doors...or something like that. I had Pink Floyd's Welcome to the Machine going in the background as I finished my editing this morning.
That is not my usual music, but...
I picked up two matching but varying in height candle holders this past weekend at the thrift store. There's a bit of an animal (giraffe) pattern on the glass. They are pretty tall with one of them being at least a foot high. I knew that would make them a little harder to work with, and I was right:-(
There is no 'real' candle in this version. It's all a crazy capture of bouncing around reflections. A shot that kindof shows the set-up is here:
I have all these ideas but it's so hard to get the mirrors to be where I want them and then me and the tripod to not end up showing up in the shot. I was using a mirror that I broke last Christmas (you may remember) as the 'back' mirror. I have got to replace it. It is just not big enough, and that ruined some shots.
Anyway, I darkened the shadows just a tad, did a minor straighten, cropped to 8X10, ran it through Noiseware, and cleaned up the lower left corner from some tiny white spots. It's not too different than original. You have to magnify it to see any of the changes.
This is what I do in February when the days are gray and cold:-)
Thanks for your comments on the Yates Mill shots from yesterday. Maybe a calendar page.
