11/30/10 - Let It Snow!
Seriously, in Raleigh, some of us spend a good part of the winter hoping for just a few flakes (5+ inches be better!). Last night, I was taking pictures out my front window at some of the Christmas lights that I have up when I noticed how this guy was looking into the lights, so I started taking pics of him:-) The original shot is here with my front porch post in it and looking too orange:
I did a focal B&W in Picasa to leave the color just in the face. I used the clone tool in PSE to get rid of the post and then upped the shadows in Picasa to make sure the dark area didn't have streaks in it (I hope). Then I put on the frame in PhotoFrame in PSE. It's under the Holiday collection. Finally added the text in PSE. I think the snowflakes are a tad too cold and the face a tad too warm, but I couldn't seem to reach a better compromise, and the lettering at least stands out OK.
My girlfriend Debbie made this snowman out of a fence post. He weighs like 25lbs. He will not be melting or blowing away in the wind, and I may need reinforcements to put him back in the attic at the end of the season:-)
The Santa picture of the kids printed great at WM yesterday. I left a copy for Santa (he was pleased too). The door greeter told me yesterday that when the kids and I come to the store we're the 'talk of the store'. Nice to bring some smiles and cheer to others. I know they are the light of my life for sure. I get picked on when I show up down there and don't have the kids. It might be WM, but in Fuquay, it's more of a hometown store where folks know each other and stop to chat. The store opened while I was pregnant with Joey, and some of the employees remember when he was born. At any point, thank you for your comments on the shot...a very special one to me indeed.
