04/29/11 - Magic Wings
The butterfly house at the Museum of Life and Science in Durham is called the Magic Wings Butterfly House. And, that it is. It's a fairly large indoor tropical garden, aviary, and butterfly house, and we enjoy it every time we visit the museum. You can see the emerging butterflies through a window, and at 3PM each day one of the volunteers brings out the new additions for a butterfly release. The kids stand around arms outstretched hoping that when the volunteer puts a butterfly on top of their hand that they can 'hold' it for a few minutes. Parents with cameras in hand hope for that priceless shot of their kid smiling with delight over their new 'friend'.
Here are some pics of Johnny from our recent visit:
I was up until nearly 2AM cleaning and up for the day at 6:15AM. Not enough sleep I know, and I am sure to pay for it later. Yet, it's keeping me focused, and the house is really shaping up. This will be the boys' first weekend visit with their dad, and I'm having to work really hard to keep the tears away today I'm afraid.
TGIF, though, right?
I did take some pics at our favorite ice cream stand last night, but it was too windy and too late int he day, and I just wasn't happy with them...again. It's hard for me to capture and/or create beauty right now... I'll keep trying. The best columbine:
