11/20/10 - Horse in the Light

There's a new horse in the area. A little girl and her dad have been out riding and walking with him (her?) quite a few times recently trying to acclimate him. I go past the horse on my to/from school run with the boys. As I was coming home yesterday, I saw the horse just standing there in this gorgeous light, and I had to stop and take a few pics. I took many more pics yesterday of autumn colors including an old green barn, but somehow this shot speaks to me whether it is really the best one or not. I like the earthen tones and light rays and of course the dreamy feel of the horse in the light. I've applied an Orton filter. There is a branch in front of the horses face, and although I'd like more detail on the face and eyes, anything I would have done to bring it out would have also brought out the branch.

Thank you all for the kind comments on my portrait of the boys with their new elves. The elves usually move right around my bedtime;-) New notes were left for the elves yesterday and are waiting for boys this AM. It is such a joy.

Last night, we got out Joey's nutcracker collection and my snowman collection and Johnny's Polar Express wooden train track pieces. It was a great family night with a pot roast and The Polar Express movie on in the background.

Santa Paws is an SPCA of Wake County fundraiser, so although I take and have other good pics of the boys, I always support the SPCA picture shoot too. Besides, I actually get to be in that picture, and I don't even have to set the self timer:-)

No specific plans today, but I suspect more trips to the attic for holiday cheer.
