11/22/10 - Jon Boat on Lake Wheeler
I had intended to take a short hike at Lake Wheeler around Simpkins pond, but instead, we ended up on the playground and then in a Jon boat. The boys started begging to go out on the water, and sometimes when I want to go Johnny does not, so I figured I'd better seize the moment. The air temp was near 70:-) However, the water temp was not above 65, so they would not rent me a canoe (too easy to tip they said and land in the water). I also didn't want to get a pedal boat because I am the only one that can reach to pedal. That's how we ended up in a Jon boat for the first time. Very sturdy on the water but moves like a turtle. At any point, we were out about an hour. This is the view when we turned around to go back to the boathouse/docks. I was pleased to see the blue sky facing east and all the color on the banks and thought you might enjoy this view toward land from out on the water.
I also did two 9 pic collages yesterday. I did them with Picasa, so if I decide to enter one of these groups of pictures, I'll have to redo them with PhotoScape.
Looking close on a country road:
I have a couple of other neat ones from yesterday too. Maybe tomorrow:-)
Short week! Can't wait to cook with the boys!
Thanks for your comments on the graffiti. It definitely made me think. Sounds like it had the same effect on some of you.
