08/14/09 - I guess yesterday was meant to be my lucky day for an owl picture. The last time I saw an owl in the woods was over 10 years ago, and it was a Barred owl. Every evening for a week, he sat on a tree limb in my front yard. I got a few low light and mostly lousy pics of him. This time, it's a Spotted owl. He swooped down and I swooped up my camera and tripod. You should have seen how fast I got the camera mounted! Luckily, although he moved from tree to tree a few times, I was able to get off several decent shots before he was gone. It was so low light that I had to have the tripod! Smiling today over this one. Maybe I'll get to see him again sometime. I hope so!
Picture taking... Sometimes it's the thrill of the catch. Sometimes it's capturing the moment. Sometimes it's a hint of creativity shining through. Mostly, it's the delight they bring to those that look at them.
I'm feeling sentimental and poetic I guess. What I really mean is that these pictures mean even more to me when I have such a wonderful group of people to share them with. Thank you.
Late note: This is a barred owl too!
