06/03/10 - Dahlia in Pink
Johnny ended up having swimmer's ear and is on drops twice a day for seven days. On the way home from the doc, I got him a small strawberry smoothie, and we stopped at the Garden Hut to redeem the $25 gift certificate that I won for submitting some photos on Mother's Day. I picked out a butterfly bush, lantana, and a bat-faced cuphea. Johnny and I walked around me taking a few pictures and him enjoying the fountains all around:
His fascination with water is ongoing:-) If I am ever in a position of have a large running fountain, I know where I'm going! The 20 minute walk with Johnny amongst the flower was the highlight of my day:-)
Anyway, this wonderful dahlia was available for sale in a good sized pot, and I would have bought it if I had more sunny spots in my yard. But I don't, so I settled for this picture. Wow, what a flower!
Thanks so much for your comments on yesterday's POTD. Judy (fotoeffects) pointed out late in the day that it was a Gloriosa Daisy and not a Black-Eyed Susan. After Googling that, I agree. I had Googled Black-Eyed Susan before I labeled it trying to be sure, and let's say I think a lot of people are confused about that particular flower. Good to learn something new everyday, though. Thanks, Judy.
