02/19/11 - Ya Gotta Start 'Em Young or Leprechaun in Training
I put up or leprechaun inflatable at lunchtime yesterday so it would be up when the boys came home from school. It was 70+ here yesterday, and everyone was out visiting neighbors and enjoying the sun and warmer temps. Madi came to see me (she's tracked out from school right now), and so did 'baby' Mira. After a photoshoot with Madi:
Mira got in on the act with the hat and scarf. Isn't she cute?!? Who could resist. Not me!
I had one of those very proud Mom Moments yesterday. There was an awards ceremony at school, and the boys did very well. You can see a collage of the event here:
I've learned in that pesky gym lighting to use Sports Mode to prevent blurring and then to run the shots through Noiseware to clean them up.
So, I got confused about what night the Yates Mill reception was. It's next Saturday from 2PM-4PM. I don't know how I messed that up! I told Joey better to be early and get to come back then late and have missed out! But, as was our luck, we got to see the coolest red/orange moon ever:
That's a digital zoom to get it to fill the frame with no cropping. If only I'd had my weighted tripod. I had the flimsy one and it was breezy and things were moving around too much. Still, it was a neat science type lesson with the boys. No sooner did I get my shots and the moon was rising into the sky and returning to it's white self. That is the most orange I have ever seen the moon! Driving, came around a corner, and bam! There it was! Angle in the sky (low) and dust particles are typically what cause this effect so I read on the internet.
Off to the Durham Museum if I can survive losing an hour of sleep in the middle of the night (dogs got me up).
